So You Think You Can Dance (Tuesday, 8PM, FOX) — I was definitely not ready for another season of SYTYCD. The hours you have to put in to this reality dance competition makes it the perfect summer series, so having it on in the fall made me feel anxious and overwhelmed. With the abundance of fall television, I knew I wasn’t tuning in until at least Vegas week. I never even made it to Vegas which put me at a distinct disadvantage… I knew no one in the top 20. I thought for sure that this season was not in the cards for me… and then they did something brilliant. There was a “special” episode on a Monday night that grouped the top 20 by dance category and the dancers were introduced to me in that way… by showing me their best work with the best of their fellow category peers. It was awesome and they should do it every year… it saved me like 20 hours of nonsense.

SYTYCD used to be one of my favorite shows, and though this season has started off way better than last season, it still feel it’s a bit lackluster. Maybe it’s too much too soon? And for how many episodes is Nigel going to save a seat for Paula? It seems a bit condescending doesn’t it? “It didn’t work out for you on Idol this year so we’re saving a seat for you on the panel of the “other” show?” Actually, maybe Paula should take what she can get, especially after that Diva’s debacle. This season, unlike last, I liked many of the dancers immediately. I also liked the addition of a new category of dancer… tap… 3 of em. Never any tap dancers in the past, which seems odd. But maybe 3 of them was a overkill. On Tuesday, 2 of the 3 tap dancers were eliminated. I thought Bianca, who I’ve recognized from many past season auditions, was booted too early, but c’est la vie. I am pulling for Peter, the lone tapper left. He, and partner Pauline’s, Wade Robson/Van Gogh Starry Night number was no doubt a season favorite so far. Other’s to look out for? Victor… who didn’t deserve to be in the bottom last week, Jakob… who really makes the other dancers look foolish, and young Mollee… who has been shockingly good and underrated. Keep up the good work season 6 dancers… and someone give us that WOW routine… soon.

Others Noteworthy

The cast of Glee sang the National Anthem at Game 3 of the World Series… and nailed it.

One Tree Hill — Laugh all you want, but OTH continues to rock my world. I loves me some Clay.

30 Rock — Congrats on finally being funny again.

The New York Yankees won their 27th World Series title.  Thanks Yanks… it feels really good to be a New Yorker! And maybe now, we can stop hearing “Empire State of Mind” on repeat and get back to Glee.

Lowlights

Gossip Girl — This week’s GG bit off one of Beverly Hills 90210’s most famous lines. Yes I just dated myself, yes most GG viewers probably have no clue what I’m talking about, and yes I’m too old to watch CW shows.  Moving on…

90210 — Adrianna’s embarrassing serenade to win back Navid’s affection after she cheated on him, got dissed and begged for his forgiveness was negated and pathetic. Do things like that really happen? Yes Naomi, that was “special”. And Jasper is creepy.

What to Watch, Week of 11/9

Desperate Housewives — I am loving the addition of the Bolens, particularly Angie (Drea de Matteo). Yes they resurrected her dead body right out of those woods in NJ and placed her right on Wisteria Lane, but who better to play the role? That storyline is getting juicy.

Private Practice — Looks like a scary scene this week. Car wreck, cliffs, labor… disaster.
