Lauren likes TV: I know, I’m slackin’…

I’ve received a few messages about my lack of posts this summer and all I have to say is… I’m sorry! I’ve been summer busy and with the lack of scripted television and abundance of reality television, if you don’t watch the episode and write about it the night it airs, you fall behind. I was able to keep up with The Bachelorette because let’s be honest, it aired on Monday and I’m not that much fun. But I certainly have not been keeping close tabs on summer favorites such as Big Brother and So You Think You Can Dance. It doesn’t mean I’m not watching… so here’s what got me excited over the past few weeks:

So You Think You Can Dance — While it wasn’t my favorite season, my favorite dancer, Jeanine Mason, stole the prize from Brandon to become America’s Favorite Dancer. While Brandon might have had a leg up on dancing ability, Jeanine charmed me, and apparently all of you, with her big personality, high degree of hotness, and kick ass hair. Bravo to her for becoming the second female to win a SYTYCD season. And speaking of, SYTYCD will be back this fall. At first I was excited about it, but now I don’t know. The fall schedule is overwhelming as it is and now with a 2-night-a-week reality show thrown in, I’m not sure if I can handle it. Who am I kidding, I’ll be there, but most likely not until the Vegas rounds. Let’s celebrate the two finalists and winner with a viewing of my favorite routine of the year: Battlefield (and I swear my love for Jordan Sparks’ song had nothing to do with my selection ;o)

Big Brother — This season has been phenomenal. While I was a fan of Ronnie, I think he spread himself too thin and I was happy to see him walk out the door. And he didn’t “let the door hit him where God split him.” He did hand Michelle her ass in a lunch bag… but I’m not sure why. Maybe the show hasn’t done a good job of showing their tumultuous relationship, or I maybe I just missed it, but I never saw them as being enemies. I knew they didn’t get along, but is Michelle really that bad of a person? I don’t see it. Well done America… awarding Jeff the coup d’etat “wizard” power. I’m glad he won it, but what I didn’t understand was him actually trying to win HOH. Doesn’t he know that essentially he is HOH this week and that if he won it, he wouldn’t be able to win it the following week? Thank goodness he did not win, and even better that Chima, part of the Jesse/Natalie alliance, did. Speaking of Chima, I do have a brand newfound respect for the girl. She decided to share a shocking, personal story with the house guests (and all of America?) of when she was raped and assaulted by a now-convicted serial-killer. She fought back and survived… all you can say is, wow. While I am not a fan of hers on the show, that woman is fierce and a force to be reckoned with on and off TV. If all goes as planned, Jeff will be vetoing the final members of the block and putting up either Jesse or Natalie. They both need to go and I don’t care in which order.

Mad Men — Though this is not my favorite show, it’s plenty deserving all of the awards and praise it receives. I am currently in the middle of season 2 (holla at Netflix) and plan to be caught up early into season 3… if I make it that far. I don’t know why, but I tend to drink a few vodka’s and smoke a pack of cigs with each episode. I feel like my friend Jackie’s dad.

Entourage — I’m watching… it started off strong, but got a little soft. No one cares about Andrew and his personal crisis. We all know that Sloan is, and has always been, way too hot for E. And since Vinnie can’t hook up with her, can they get an equivalent to hook up with him for fuck’s sake? Once again, Drama is stealing the show. His golf outing episode was classic.

NY Yankees — It’s that time of year and I’ve been caught up with the Yanks as they swept the Sox and begin to close out the AL East. From my mouth to God’s ears.

I will make a concerted effort to keep up and promise to be back full time once fall rolls around. My summer vacation began yesterday so I will see you cats next week!

  1. LOVE drama and the gold outing episode. I was hysterical. His outfit was the best. Sloane is beyond gorgeous. she seriously does belong with Vince. They should date in real life. I like E’s new girl on the show. she is sweet. she was in that great lifetime movie about high school kids making out too young or something.

  2. Well done, slacker! Johnny Drama is pretty much the only reason I still watch Entourage. He is by far the funnest mo-fo on that show. That Bagger Vance golf outfit had me peeing. But I hate that big headed waif that E is banging right now. Her head is too big for her body and she looks like she’s 16. Her role in Nick and Norahs Infinite Playlist was ok b/c she was supposed to be annoying and played it well, but as E’s gf, she just makes me want to kick a puppy.
