Lauren likes TV: Upfront and personal

This week, all the major networks made their presentations and unveiled their fall/mid-season lineups to the media and its buyers. As an obvious fan of TV and its miraculous storytelling, I look forward to this week every year. As all my shows come to a close, this is a reminder of what’s to look forward to and figure out just how much time I will consume engaging with my fictional friends and family, and how little time I’ll be spending with my real life friends and family. Here it is….

FOX

In — So You Think You Can Dance is getting a fall season. So we get one this summer and then another again right away! I’m dancing in my seat. Also In, HouseFringeBones, 24 (winter 2010), Lie To Me, American Idol (winter 2010), number of judges TBD…how scandalous) and Dollhouse.

Out — Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles, Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader, and Don’t Forget The Lyrics. No big loss here…

My Picks — Glee, do I really need to explain why?

Check out the FOX fall lineup and previews here.

ABC

In — Brothers & SistersDesperate HousewivesGrey’s AnatomyLostPrivate PracticeScrubsUgly Betty, Better Off Ted, and Castle.

Out — Tragically, Samantha Who? has been cancelled. Also goners, Cupid (told you), The UnusualsIn the Motherhood (sorry dude), and According to Jim.

My Picks — Cougar Town (as if Courteney Cox wasn’t enough, Busy Philipps stars as well), and Flash Forward (everyone in the world blacks out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds… at the same time). Happy Town (mid-season) and Modern Family are something to consider.

NBC

In — Chuck, Heroes, Law & Order (both regular and SVU), Southland, The Office, Parks & Recreation and 30 Rock return.

Out — My Name is Earl, Medium, Life, Kath & Kim, and Knight Rider are dunzo.

My Picks — Nothin.

CBS

In — It’s easier to look at what’s out.

Out — The Unit, Without a Trace and Eleventh Hour… toodles.

My Picks — Not a huge CBS fan.

Check out the CBS fall lineup and previews here.

The CW

In — Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210, Americas Next Top Model, Supernatural, and Smallville.

Out — Nothing important.

My Picks — Melrose Place or The Beautiful Life. I feel obligated to watch Melrose. It’s a toss up, I’m not sure yet, but I’m only adding one.

Here’s how my schedge is shaping up:

  1. First of all, I love to see that you made a excel to show us your schedule…so appropriate and secondly, I am making a comment on your blog…so there. What about How I Met Your Mother? Isn’t that on CBS? And, do you not watch that show…you should. That said, it better be coming back.

  2. Yeah! The schedule is out! thanks for the excel sheet. When I found out Samantha who? was cancelled I couldn’t believe it. When Cupid got cancelled, first thought, Lauren saying I told you so! haha. Well when I found out Melrose place is back with Ashley Simpson, uhh WTF! They are going to butcher it but I will still be watching. Glee, I was watching something else that night I missed it. Ive been hearing alot of buzz about it being good, maybe I’ll give it a shot.
