Lauren likes TV: Private Practically scares the crap out of me

Private Practice (Thursday, ABC, 10PM) — I wasn’t able to watch TV this week. “What?!“, you scream? I have a good excuse. I was in Miami celebrating the upcoming nuptials of my bestie, Emma. I have a lot of catching up to do. However, between sun, cocktails, and late night boozing, I managed to watch the season finale of Private Practice on www.abc.com. And all I can say is, WTF?! Was that a deranged episode or what?

I and three others gathered around my computer to watch because we’d heard it was insane. It was beyond insane. We were screaming for Cooper to go inside the house and save dear Violet from the delusional Katie who drugged her and planned to “cut out her baby” from Violet’s uterus, even though “her” lost baby was supposed to be a girl, and Violet’s is a boy. And what does Cooper do? He puts his girlfriend Charlotte before Violet for the first time, let’s see, ever, and unbeknownst to him, leaves her there pleading for her life. And all this occurs after Pete finally realizes he loves her and wants a family with her and we see Violet truly happy for the first time since the show began. The outcome doesn’t look good for Violet and now we have to wait 5-6 months to see what happens. Will that drone-y dwarf Sheldon come to the rescue? And if so, will that change the life plans Violet and Pete have for each other? Will Cooper ever forgive himself for not opening that door? Damn you Shonda Rimes, damn you.

Other Highlights

Brothers & Sisters — Not only did Justin and Rebecca get back to together, they got engaged as well! I enjoyed that. Good job to the ABC music supervisors who selected Happiness by The Fray for that awesome scene.

NBC renewed the following shows for fall: Parks and Recreation, Heroes, Southland, 30 Rock, The OfficeLaw & Order: SVU, and Friday Night Lights

What to Watch, Week of 5/4

Brothers & Sisters — It is definitely the season finale and the whole gang heads to Mexico to find Tommy. Though I don’t believe Balthazar Getty makes it back to the show for next season. It’s a bummer he’s such a jerk on and off the show.

  1. I just watched it last night! THE most disturbing episode ever. I so was annoyed when it ended that I even forced myself to watch The Duel in order to lose myself in mindless television and forget about the horror I’d just witnessed. When Violet explained to “no that’s MY baby” lady how to cut the baby out and take care of it when it was out of her body, I literally threw up in my mouth and screamed. Shonda is so on my shit list.
