Reality check: American iTunes
American Idol had its contestants singing the top 100 songs downloaded on iTunes last night. Overall the show was pretty good. Here’s the good, the bad and the fugly, in no particular order:
Anoop — His performance was relatively heinous. I can’t get a handle on his talent and whether or not he has any. What I do know is that he has an overblown ego; it’s apparent in the way he handles criticism and in the manner that he responds to the judges. He comes off as somewhat arrogant and as a result I think he’s a douche. We’re over Anoop.
Scott — It’s because you’re blind! There! I said it! You’re still alive on this show because you’re blind. And by the way, that’s also why your hair looks the way it did last night, because you can’t see it and exercise your veto with your hair stylist, who incidentally should be shot for sending you on stage with that 1992 almost-grown-out-mullet. There. I said it. And nobody wants to hear another stripped down version of Billy Joel’s “Just the Way You Are.” Nobody.
Kris — Where the hell did this kid come from? When the show started I had no idea who he was, and I wasn’t interested in finding out. But every week he gets better and better. Last night’s rendition of “Ain’t No Sunshine” was stellar. He killed it. I like him more and more every week. I can’t even think of something obnoxious to say about this kid. It’s annoying. Even Kara got out of her seat during the song for a brief moment to throw up a few fist pumps. It was shocking since we all know Kara does everything she can to avoid being compared to Paula. Ya know, she makes sense, doesn’t take drugs, dresses well, doesn’t repeat herself. Ya know, she acts like a normal human.
On Paula — is it me or did it look like her boobs were choking in that dress? I couldn’t breathe just looking at her.
Paula’s drug(s) of choice last night: Ambien and Conk.
Reality Check appears every Thursday, sometimes Tuesday and Wednesday, and there’s always a chance for some action on Monday… and Friday.
