Last night on American Idol, Smokey Robinson dropped by and taught the contestants a thing or two about Motown. Some of them got it, most didn’t. Here’s the short short version:

Lil Rounds – I like this girl. I want her to be good. Even Simon wants her to be good because he knows she’s got it in her. There was a touching moment on the show when Lil got choked up and said she wanted to make Martha and Diana proud because they paved the way. Was she talking about Martha Reeves? Regardless, I was touched and given the year we’ve had with Obamataking office and emotions running high, it seemed heartfelt and sincere. Lil is the real deal. I dig it. With that said, her performance was crapola. She needs to break out a serious power ballad like now. I’m hoping she doesn’t leave yet. If she leaves before Megan and that stupid shimmy of hers I will punch myself in the face.

Scott – Pack up your knives and go. Oh wait, wrong show. It’s time for this dude to go home. Last night’s performance was hardly top 12 material. I originally thought this kid had more going on and I didn’t want to believe that being blind was working for him. At this point, he gave the worst performance last night and if he stays, it will be hard to convince anyone that it’s not because he’s blind. Oh and Paula, next time you want to bring comedy into the mix and give Simon crayons and coloring books to keep him quiet, try doing it in front of a contestant that can see you.

Best performance of the night – hands down Adam Lambert. Wow. Check it out here. Unreal.
