Call for book reviewers
When Falls the Coliseum wants to expand its book coverage. If you are a book reviewer, or would like to be one, we’d be happy to hear from you. Our plan is to have a weekly column or columns that cover recent books in a variety of genres. This could include mystery, crime fiction, chick-lit, science fiction, fantasy, graphic novels/comics, so-called literary fiction, romance, and all subjects of nonfiction.
If you are interested, visit our submissions page and send us a bio like the kind our contributors have written. Also indicate that you would like to review books and tell us how frequently you can do this (every week, every other week, once a month) and what genre(s) you would like to cover.
Depending on how many reviewers we get, in what areas, and how frequently they want to post reviews, we could give you your own weekly column in a genre, or might have you share a rotating column with other reviewers that either covers a single genre or multiple genres, which each writer would do every second or third week or once a month. The reviews you would write would not necessarily have to be the sort you would see in a newspaper (back when they still published book reviews). The posts could be shorter, more aggressive, funnier, more personal, more bloggy, though they should, of course, be well-written and engaging. We’re also open to other book columns, so feel free to pitch concepts.
We should be clear: We do not pay any contributors. People who write for WFTC do so because they want to, because they think it’s fun and a good venue for their writing. This includes excellent writers with some impressive credentials, who have been published many times in the most well-regarded publications out there (read about our contributors to see that you’d be in good company). As a contributor, you would be able to write about any of the subjects we cover in addition to your regular book coverage.
