Magic Shop
February 9, 2009
I dream I am with my father in a magic shop that is about the size of a Home Depot. In the middle of the room there is a performance area in which my Uncle Phil is doing the linking ring trick. As much as I like my Uncle Phil, I am distracted by an aisle filled with salt shakers and gimmicks. I search for the right shaker and gimmick, but I can’t find exactly what I am looking for. Later on, I am in another aisle of little magic boxes with brass fittings. Richard Kaufman, editor of Genii Magazine, is there to go over some obscure issues.

I dream I am on a hike with Gail and we must stop at the magic shop. The prices are pretty good there and when I go to purchase one of the volumes of the Tarbell Course I find a little girl trapped within the book. She tries to convince me to release her but I don’t want the responsibility. After I take it home, the book becomes a fiery pit and I rescue the girl by pouring water in and extinguishing the flame. I pull her sooty body out. She appears to be about four and I like the way she sits on my lap.

I dream I am going to a magic shop in Las Vegas. I walk past the joke and novelty area and into the secret, inner magic sanctum. You have to be buzzed through, and I sneak in behind the people ahead of me. The room is under lit, but I can still tell it is a magic shop. As I look around I see a piece of the owner’s letterhead. His name is Larry Toe.
