I dream I am in the bathroom ready to leave for a trip to a nearby amusement park/carnival. In the bathroom, with a great deal of self-importance, I recite some of the final lines from Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie: “These days, the world is lit by lightning.” I repeat the line several times with increasing gravity. When I go out to the car, I notice that a neighbor who had been half buried in dirt pulls himself out, dazed. He is fully clothed but his penis is hanging out of his pants.

I dream I am both watching and participating in a play set in a real supermarket. The lead characters are two brothers. One is handicapped because of an accident that happened in the other brother’s store. The store-owning brother is depressed because he feels responsible for his brother’s handicap. The store-owning brother tells reporters he is fed up and will leave society and live a cross between Gilligan’s Island and Star Trek. Eric and I volunteer to be Klingons.

I dream I travel to Israel to be in a special program for theater artists. When I arrive there I feel like kissing the ground, but when I get to the meeting place I learn that I will have a ridiculously small part. I am to play a tangential baby with no lines. I am not too upset-I’m glad to have the extra time to do what I want in Israel. At the meeting, however, my sneaker starts to bleed.
