Last night, I left NY and made my way to the event of all events, where anybody who’s anybody will be… San Diego Comic-Con, aka, Nerd Prom. Sweet. The best part of my journey so far? Being able to watch So You Think You Can Dance on my JetBlue flight. Not only did this entertain me for 2 hours on my 6+ hour flight, I got to enjoy it with mini bottles of water (I mean wine) and free baggies of cashews and 100 calorie Lorna Doone shortbread cookies (I mean Doritos Munchie mix and chocolate chip cookies). With no access to pause and FFW, I had to watch in full and it made me remember a few things:

1. Nigel can be obnoxious. It’s not really nice to tell someone to shut up, even if it is Mary Murphy. Especially the audience. Simon Cowell is obnoxious, but we love him anyway. Except Nigel is not nearly as lovable/hatable as Simon. I like the fair, earnest ways of Nigel better.

2. Mia is a wicked bitch. She was her nasty self last night. She didn’t look as vulgar as she has in the past, which is a good thing. She talks about bringing it every week. But Mia, while you’ve won 3 (well-deserved) Emmys for this show, you’ve been disappointing this season, too!

3. I have a female crush on Cat Deely. How cute was her ponytail last night? And how great was her ad lib? And how long are her legsicles? She must go through bottles and bottles of moisturizer on those cigar matchsticks.

4. This season sucks. I am still not 100% interested in it. The best dancers are definitely left, but none have sucked me in like Travis, Benji, Danny, Joshua or Twitchington did. In fact, I favor the girls this year, which has not been the case in the past. Actually, I favor the J’s this season… Janette, Jeanine, and Jason. Not only can they dance, but they are smokin’ hot.

5. I hate Brandon. His routine with Jeanine was outrageous… one of the best of the year. His dancing is superb. But I loathe the guy and it’s for one reason only. His celebrations. When given positive remarks, he jumps up and down giggling like a 6-year-old girl. It makes me want him off this show and on Little Miss Perfect.

6. Commercials still exist. And did anyone catch the So You Think You Can Dance Get Fit videos? What? Is this what I’m missing out on with DVR? Needless to say, it was money well spent on Amazon.com.

Ellen was there! She was there because they brought the celebs in to celebrate the 100^th episode of the show. She didn’t belong there, but I loved her. Line of the night: “Are you two carpenters because you nailed it!” And I thought what she said about Evan was awesome. We do love Evan for the nerdy, midget dancer that he is and he definitely stands out for just that reason. Ellen even brought out the nice in that beast Mia. There should be more Ellens in this world.

The highlights for me were Brandon and Jeanine’s hip-hop-ish/jazzy/contemporary routine, Tice’s breast cancer choreography (well done to Tice, Melissa and Ade), Brandon’s solo and the use of Kris Allen’s Heartless during Evan and Janette’s routine.

Don’t forget to watch tonight’s results show to see the highly anticipated performance from… drumroll… Katie Holmes (wah wah). Why didn’t she go to teenage star heaven? The only thing good to come out of her since Dawson’s Creek is Suri. Let’s hope her routine is another. There will also be encores of some of the show’s Emmy-nominated performances. I won’t be able to watch live as I’ll be hanging out with 40-year-old, overweight Batmen. Pray for me!
