Lauren likes TV: Were the families helpin’ or hurtin’?

Last night was meet-the-family night on The Bachelorette. Family night always reveals a lot about the guys and last night was no different. Sometimes the families help the guys’ chances and sometimes they hurt. Here’s how it went in my eyes…

Reid — HURTIN’

Was it me or were Reid’s brothers no help to Reid at all using words like “commitment problem” and “they (the girls) just go away”? And then the father basically confirmed that Reid can’t make a decision on his own including choosing a girlfriend. “Thanks Dad!” He’s cute and sweet in a goofy/dorky/neurotic kind of way, but a man who can’t pick his own chick? I’m a fan, Reid, but really…

Michael — HELPIN’

How cute is Michael? What a sweetie pie! You know what I love most about him? He’s so genuine. I think he truly is excited about the potential of Jillian being his girlfriend/wife, no convincing necessary. He would have zero questions about doing the worm, twisting it into a backspin and ending on one knee holding a small black box with a ring inside.  And how nice was his family? His sister flew all the way from Australia just to be there for her brother? That is what family is all about. My sister would be like, “Mail (not email because she doesn’t know how to use a computer) me a picture… did you watch General Hospital today?”

Kiptyn — HURTIN’

What kind of names does his family have? I heard more common names when I went to Africa. His family, meaning his mother, was weird and overbearing. I was creeped out by all of them and if I were Jillian I would’ve gotten the hell out of San Diego and headed straight for the Hollywood hills as quickly as possible.

Jesse — HURTIN’

Similarly to Kiptyn’s family, I was completely creeped out by Jesse’s family, his brother specifically. Did he really ask Jillian if she was ever naked with Jesse? That was enough for me to say so long winos. Unless your last name is Firestone, I want nothing to do with you.

Wes — HELPIN’

Jake is a tool, an overly nice guy, but a tool. And why the hell was he crying? Does he really care that much about Jillian, the girl who dumped him on national television? I’ve been with my husband for 4 years and I don’t recall him ever crying, not even on our wedding day. Well maybe that one time during The OC he did, when Seth and Summer broke up, but you get the point. Jillian must really love Wes. She went to meet the family (who only convinced her furthermore that Wes is a good person) regardless of Jake’s news. Forget the girlfriend talk, why didn’t Jake focus on the fact that Wes has said several times that he is there, first and foremost, for his career? And if we were supposed to be impressed by Wes’ performance with his band, he’s got bigger problems than being a prick on TV.

Then SpEd came back. She should’ve kicked him to the curb, too. Why should he get a second chance? He bailed and it was unfair of her to let him back in.

At the end of the night, Jillian made some piss-poor decisions… mainly, she kept Wes and let Michael go. Poor Michael… she’s beautiful, he misses her and wants her to be happy? Michael, you are a keeper in my book and when you get back to NY please contact me… I have some great, single NY chicks that are ready to mingle. And you should really look into auditioning for So You Think You Can Dance… there’s a fall 2009 season, you know.

When the hell do we find out who can’t get it up?

  1. HYSTERICAL!!!!!!! I think it’s Kiptyn who can’t stand tall …if you know what I mean!!!

  2. What is WRONG with this girl? What the hell can she possibly see in Wes? There is NOTHING to him. NO personality, NO charisma and he sings worse than I do. It’s infuriating to watch this girl turn into a groupie when his gay band is on stage singing. They remind me of an opening band for an even shittier band at a dive bar in the Midwest. At this point, she’s going to look like a complete fool at the end of the show, and she’s going to deserve it. I have no sympathy for this girl. Michael was the best guy. Now I don’t even care who she picks.

  3. Ha, I was sitting with my hand over my mouth when the idiot picked Wes again! She is sooo blind, nothing can stop her, love is blind! Lauren, you are so harsh with Jake he is the nice guy remember, he LOVED her and obviously did anything for her, he was just doing the RIGHT thing and had balls unlike all the others to just be staright up with her and tell her, Open your fuckin eyes Wes is a DICK! But Jillian is an IDIOT…I think it was actually smart of her to bring Ed back, it wasn’t his fault his boss is a prick and he had to leave. GO ED! I liked him, now SPEED UP on opening up Ed you can’t be in the “Special” Lane anymore if you want the girl!
