Van McCourt has done a lot of stuff. She has been a ranch hand, an actress, a singing waitress, the assistant to a master electrician, a copywriter, a shadow dancer, a bartender, a human resources executive, a music video producer, and a flyer girl, for starters. She has worked at Cha Cha Coconuts, Joel & Jerry’s Deep Deep Discount, and Books & Books (the one next door to Flowers & Flowers). One time she was in a Tommy Hilfiger ad that appeared in USA Today, Rolling Stone, and Seventeen — but that is a long story. She sings at the top of her lungs in the car and also very occasionally on a stage. She got her BFA in Theater Arts and her MFA in Creative Writing, both at the University of MIami. Currently she writes for WFTC because it helps to keep her sane and explains her actions to those around her. She is a founding member of the St. Petersburg MILFia, though she cannot take credit for the naming of said group. She is also working as a visual manager at a department store because it does not suck and it pays the bills.
