Ricky Sprague

Ricky Sprague was born sometime in the 1970s, and probably would never have bothered to learn to read if it weren’t for Heavy Metal magazine and Marvel’s Conan comics.

In 1993 he sold his first humor article, “Awkward Moments For Limbs to Fall Off,” to Cracked. After contributing to many issues of that late lamented magazine, he finally made his first sale to Mad, and he sold only a few but very funny articles to that famous magazine; articles which can be found in trade paperback collections, including Mad About TV, Mad About Superheroes, and Mad About The ‘90s, under his own name and the pen name “Charlie Richards” (long story). In 2006, he began a disastrous comic book-writing stint that he will not discuss, not even when asked politely.

Today he wastes time putting together short pieces of animation that can be found around the internet and occasionally at film festivals like Spike & Mike’s Sick & Twisted Festival of Animation, Sydney Underground, Dragon*Con, and others.

Last year, he translated the classic French enema murder novel, Arsole Fantüme, Gentleman Immoralist, which can be purchased from amazon.com here.

He currently lives with a woman he met on a Los Angeles city bus, and a poodle bitch. He blogs here, and here. His website is here.
