Mark Guerin

Mark Guerin is a developer and manager of web-based training at one of the oldest private banks in the United States. He’d rather be working full-time on his novel, but he’s got two kids in college and not enough hours in the day. He has a BA and MA in English from Northern Illinois University and a MFA in Dramatic Writing from Brandeis University. He has written poetry, fiction and a number of plays, some of which were produced in college, and one of which was staged in a small Boston theater. His livelihood has come mostly from business writing, starting with editorial positions at such obscure business publications as Coal Mining and Processing and American Printer, then migrating to public relations, where the pay was better but the writing of press releases and ghosted articles was to the same degree more painful. His next incarnation was as a marketing copywriter at a now-defunct computer company, where he wrote everything from product brochures to print and video advertising. Finally, he got out of business writing altogether, and into graphic design, then interactive software development and eLearning development, where he is now. His novel, 65% finished, and most of his other writing, is done on the train to and from his job in Boston.
