Lisa Hura

Lisa Hura works at a test laboratory where the main occupation is breaking things. Her job normally consists of keeping a straight face when a fastener manufacturer calls and asks her how much it will cost to torque his nuts. Her current assignment involves a lot of travel, giving her plenty of time to read in airports and strange hotel rooms. She has turned her love of books into a book review blog, Minds Alive on the Shelves, that feeds her book addiction with advanced reader copies and free review copies.

Lisa has a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Kent State University (her mother used to tell people she picked her major because it sounded dirty). She ended up in sales because that’s where the commissions are. She still lives in Kent with her cat, CoCo, but she loves to travel — just ask her about the bookstores in Paris, or ask to see her pictures of the new public library in Amsterdam.

She writes a book column for When Falls the Coliseum. “Lisa Reads” is published on Tuesdays.
