David Alfreds

Since he was a wee child, David Alfreds has been a cinephile with a critical eye, and he is well regarded by his various associates as a pop-culture critic and a watcher of all things on screen, big or little.
While attending Purchase College, David maneuvered his way into an internship for CBS’s coverage of the 1998 Nagano Olympics (pure nepotism thanks to his father-in-law). David decided to continue exploring the business of television and has worked at Ogilvy & Mather; CNN; in Australia covering the 2000 Paralympics; and for various freelance television and cinema shoots, all before joining the YES Network for its launch in 2002.
David produces various shows for Yes, including Forbes Sports Money, Yankees Classics, The Joe Girardi Show, and Memories of the Game, as well as features and specials for Yankees and Nets programming, some of which have brought David several honors from the Emmy Awards.
While David continues to enjoy working in television, he has never lost his passion for the cinema and long-form stories. He is especially interested in classics, documentaries, indies, and films that haunt the soul. Each Friday, he writes about movies you should see (or avoid) in the theater or on your television, in his column, “Cinema This Week,” archived under ‘art & entertainment.’
