President Bush to be stripped of Heisman
Posted on September 7th, 2010 by Scott Stein
The headline on CNN.com’s home page is “Bush to be stripped of Heisman.” I know that some people really hate the former president, but can’t the guy keep his Heisman? I assume he earned it fair and square, through hard work, just like he earned the jersey pictured below — there aren’t hanging chads in the Heisman voting, are there? It seems wrong to me that people would mix sports and politics like this.

All I can say is that the cosmos spared us millions of cheesy headlines a few years ago when Reggie Bush was not drafted by the 49ers. Had that occurred, horrible sports copyeditors everywhere would have inundated us with “Bush-Gore” double entendres and puns (FYI: for the non-football fans, Frank Gore — y’ know, like Al Gore — is the name of the 49ers’ starting halfback).
And all along I thought they were talking about Bush Sr.
This is why I don’t watch sports.
