In Obama, Left Behind, Matt Welch writes: “[W]hen you project all your hopes, desires, and even fears onto a Rorschach test of a politician — whether Barack Obama, Sarah Palin, or otherwise — not only are you bound to be disappointed, you might just deserve it, too.”
In Avatarocious, John Podhoretz writes: “The real question is this: If Avatar were drawn like a regular cartoon, or had been made on soundstages with sets and the like, would it be interesting? Would it hold our attention? The answer is, unquestionably no.”

Matt Welch’s article was a good read. The average American needs to stop looking for others to solve their problems, and start looking to themselves.
Politicians in DC are thousands of miles away from the average American, both in terms of distance and understanding of the day-to-day problems many of us face. Even if they could, on a routine basis, make decisions which were tolerable to the majority of citizens, they couldn’t reasonably be expected to make decisions that would routinely be equitable and just towards YOU. You are unique, an individual, and blanket solutions coming out of DC are never going to fit 100% of the time. Anyone hoping for such a reality is always going to find themselves harmed and/or angered by some decision or another.
