Samurai swords are making a comeback

I’ve never had a desire to obtain a samurai sword, but there clearly are people out there who feel differently.

While they haven’t just broken big, samurais have been popping up in the news lately. There was the story last month about a college student who killed an intruder with a blade.  Then on Tuesday, some developments came to light in the case of a Brooklyn man accused of slashing his neighbor, a reggae performer, with the performer’s own sword. Being rooted in Japanese history, it makes sense for the samurai to have international appeal, although I don’t think its creators ever intended for one of them to be used in the way that one English man did late last year when he chose to end a dispute by stabbing a father of three to death.

I guess those old school martial arts movies got it wrong. You don’t really have to work to get one, although maybe that would help things. Going through a number of kung fu levels in order to earn a sword doesn’t appeal to everyone. I’m actually surprised that you can dial up a number of websites to purchase such a dangerous weapon. One night back in college, some home shopping program was offering them for sale, and my friends put me in charge of waking them up when the program aired. Thankfully, I fell asleep.

Though I have to say…it’d be pretty cool to chop up a salad with one of those bad boys.

If that surprises you, then you would be absolutely shocked to learn that kitchen knives kill more people than Samurai swords do in this country, and that they can be legally purchased by minors!

    Oh my!

Now let’s talk about railroad ties…..

You know you can still buy a cathode-ray TV off Amazon?

You can totally kill someone with one of those. Ever seen “Henry” ?
