If there’s one thing African Americans love it’s having babies out of wedlock, and if there’s one thing they hate it’s marriage. Those are just facts. Luckily for them, as former PA Senator Rick Santorum pointed out Monday on Fox News’ On the Record, they have a wedlocked African American president to act as a role model. One who “says that marriage is cool” and knows how to treat his lady. He cautions Obama, though, against treating her too well, in light of his recent trip to New York. 

I think he has to realize that flying to New York is self-indulgent. Go down to the corner bar and have a drink, a shot and a beer. It does not matter where you go with your wife, is that it’s with your wife. That’s really the point… I would make the argument, the simpler the date, the more normal it is.

And really, that’s what every woman wants anyway. The times are many when my girlfriends and I have sat around painting each other’s toenails and talking about how we wish our boyfriends would just keep it normal. Enough with the fancy stuff, guys, we’d say. Just show your appreciation for who I am and get me wasted at the corner bar, normal style.
