Fred's dreams

Flying

August 6, 2006
I dream I am in a truck that transforms into a gurney, and I find myself in a combination Home Depot and Jewish Community Center. I am slowly ascending staircases and heading towards a door. When my gurney hits the door I don’t make it through. A nearby gurney suddenly flies straight up into the air and I fear that my gurney is going next. Fortunately, my gurney tries the door again. On the other side of the door I am high above a huge indoor warehouse space filled with corded wood, water heaters, and boxes of large appliances. While there are no tracks, I fly up and down through this environment as if it were a roller coaster. I find I have limited steering ability.

I dream I am in an artists’ colony run by an insane cult leader. I am forced to paint a picture of a flying man, which inspires the cult leader to force Gene Wilder to practice difficult stunts in a small plane. The artists’ colony evolves into a military school, and all us cadets have to participate in a flying pageant. We all wear uniforms and carry overhead projectors. I am at the front of the line with the commanding officer when we learn that the first cadet to fly a mission has died. I get in the C. O.’s face and yell “It’s over! Over Over Over Over Over!” He laughs and agrees, and we all march to the shopping mall with our overhead projectors.

I dream I live in a fancy boy’s dormitory in which everybody has some ability to levitate. I happen to be gifted in this area. It causes some of the other boys to be jealous, so I usually conceal my levitating abilities. A young woman visits during a party, and I show off. Slowly and gracefully, I float up and lie down on the ceiling. This makes some of the boys hostile, and one of them transforms into a giant insect. I refuse to be outdone, so I transform into a bigger insect.
